#5: Gift From 2K! Downloadable BioShock Artbook!!

As promised in my last post.

The cool guys and girls over at 2K Games obviously don't believe in the 'less is more' mantra.. no.. they actually believe in the 'more is more' mantra and eventhough sometimes 'less is more' is actually more.. when it comes to BioShock any self-respecting gamer always wants more.. and definitely not less (does that make sense? Yup.. it makes sense).

Everyone is, of course, impressed by the incredible graphics of BioShock and 2K Games is giving all the fans the opportunity
of downloading a High-Res BioShock Artbook.. FOR FREE!! This artbook didn't make the Collector's Edition and
from what I understand from my good Xbox Live (and real life) friend Dereck Breuning, 2K has made this download available because they did not want the artbook to go to waste and I totally applaud them for that. Now rumor has it that this will be a temporary download, so all I can say is: HURRY!!!

Here's the link: Gift From 2K!

I've just had a chance to take a quick peak at it with my lovely girlfriend and we were both like 'SO COOOOOOL DUDE'.
As unbelieveable as it sounds.. it actually made me want to play BioShock even more.. and that says A LOT!!

Enjoy guys! I want to give a big thank you to the guys of the Final Fight Clan for their part in making this post possible.

Peace and lots of Gamerpoints everybody,

#4: I'm Back (The Why I Was Distracted Post)

Yo guys,

I am officially back. 3 things basically took over my life as I know it.. and they are the reason why I haven't posted for a whole of 12 days and nights (it's not my fault.. really..):

1. BioShock

Even though it's been out less than 12 days.. I am litterally immersed in this game. When I complete it I will write a
grand player's review. This game is.. no.. if I start typing this'll turn into a review. It's got me in it's grip.. I can tell you that.

2. Season 6 of 24

Possibly the most thrilling, exciting series to ever bless TV. From the intricate plots, to Jack pistolwhipping and shooting who ever
he can get his hands on, to the lies, the blackmail... totally hooked.

3. Forza Motorsport 2

I believe in the age old saying: winners never quit and quitters never win. I also apply this to gaming.
In this particular case I, a true hardcore gamer, have met a challenge that's got me working over-overtime.

And no.. it's not the career mode. It's the.. Arcade mode. It sounds like pure fun 'Arcade'. It's not. It's work.

For those who don't know, in Arcade mode you can do a) Exhibition (race against AI opponents with any car you want) b) Time Trials c) Free run. I have literally beat every course on Exhibition mode and won a planeload of extremely fast cars.. except the Nürburgring Nordschleife. You have to win a race of 2 laps. Each lap takes me at least 7m30s. So this means you need 100% concentration for at least 15 minutes versus very smart and actually dirty (they keep bumping you off the road) opponents. I must have done that race with a multitude of vehicles (usually the R1 Ferarri F333) and have not, not, not been able to pull it off. This has eaten a LOT of time. I will not quit and I will beat them all... hopefully today.. or else tomorrow.. if not tomorrow (you get my point right?).

Anyway just saying I'm back, I got a REALLY cool BioShock must have download that I'll post a little later on and I got a post coming up about all the little things that could make Forza Motorsport 2 even better (yes.. it's possible).

Bioshock... Forza... BioShock.. Forza... Bioshock.. decisions decisions :)

Peace and lots of Gamerpoints,

#2: BioShock (aka Buy-o-Shock!) (Demo)

What's up guys,

As my girl is playing Gears of War right now.. I'm gonna do the next best thing.. write about gaming.

Entry #2. Now I'm not one to be amazed, shocked (no pun intended) or impressed by the average demo. Honestly, usually a demo on Marketplace disappoints me and leaves me wondering what the hype was all about and if this means they're just really still working on a lot of things.. or that that's really it. Me downloading a demo is usually preceded by people talking about it and an ad for it on XBOX Live. Usually after downloading and playing for a few minutes this happens: Guide button, Y, Yes. That's when disappointment sets in and I can count on my trusted friends Gears of War and Forza Motorsport 2 to remind me what game developers can do with the superpowerful XBOX360. For instance the other day I downloaded the online Multi-Player demo for Far Cry: Instincts Predator. It was so bad.. I felt violated. Moving on...

Only a few demo's have made me think 'This is good!! This. Is. GOOD!!!'. Only a few 'MLB 2K7', 'The Darkness' and uhm.. nothing else comes to mind. Now don't think I'm bashing 20-30 game developers. No. I'm saying that developers put demo's up and do that from a 'developers point of view' not from a 'gamer's point of view'. We as gamers are not forgiving. We compare EVERYTHING be it demo or full game to the benchmark, major games.. the big hits. One reason for the disappointment is the hype by the developer and the hype amongst gamers.. basically making it really hard for the demo to impress. We're a bit spoiled over here in 360 world. The other thing is that I do not want to play an American Football game without commentary because it'll ensure a quicker download of the demo (yes.. I have read those words on XBox Live Marketplace...). To me it made that demo boring. Guide button, Y, Yes. Not buying it. Missed opportunity (for them.. not me).

ANYWAY...

So there's this one game that's been on my mind for at least a year. BioShock. I saw a video of this online and thought 'this is something else'. And finally.. finally.. the demo's been released on Marketplace. You can imagine my anticipation.. and my fear for yet another 'no.. that's not it' demo.

The demo is in 1 word: amazing. If shooting's your game.. BioShock is the name. Believe me (or download the demo and convince yourself).

In this spectacular First-Person Shooter (shoot the first person you see right?) you are dropped into a world unlike any other known in gamer history. The developer, 2K (the Boston and the Australia studios), have created 1 heck of a game.  For starters they have put something unique in a game: in this game YOU can alter your DNA and become a weapon yourself using 'Plasmids'. Yes. Not just 'Press X to pick-up ammo'. You can put certain chemical fluids that you find along the way in your own body.. and then use - for instance - your left hand to shoot a bolt lightning out of your hand (!!). This is combined with regular weapons from the ever-present wrench (Prey anybody?) to the-ever present machine gun. Yes I'm coming down on the wrench and machine gun a little bit.. BUT in combination with the 'DNA weapons' they are AMAZING. For instance.. you shoot a bolt of lightning at an enemy.. the enemy freezes for a few seconds.. you take out the gun and shoot the enemy. NICE. NICE. Hmm.. what would happen if an enemy is standing in the water....?? Yes.. that happens. That's the Shock in BioShock! Jay-Z voice 'wooooow'.

OK. Great, great stuff so far and I haven't said anything about the storyline, the actual enemies what they look like etc., the other weapons. Some more things  but why am I telling you the reader that BioShock is a must buy. Here's some points (not spoiling anything here):

* The setting is an underwater world called Rapture.. created by a Mr. called Ryan. Now he's created this world as a place where one can create without having to conform". Sweet. A man known only as 'Atlas' guides you through this world through a transmitter radio.. His Irish accent really seals the deal.

* You're enemies consist of some seriously creepy creatures. They're all human... right?? Humans who've obviously gone through some form of horrendous episode while being caught in Rapture are out to kill you. Then there's the very, scary little girls and they 'bodyguard'. A huge creature in a huge old-school diver's 'suit' (you know.. with the helmet with the door...).

* The entire vibe, sounds, atmosphere is outright frightening. I'm a grown man. It's frightening. You actually feel like you're in danger.. and that's hard to create.

And that's where I totally stop. So.. go on XBOX Live's Marketplace.. download the BioShock Demo (New Arrivals) and thank me later :o)

Peace and Lots of Gamerpoints!!

FLY LACOSTE

P.S. IF I can actually stop playing it haha.. a full review will be up as soon as possible. The release date is August 21st in North America and August 24th in Europe (according to Wikipedia, the 2K site states 'coming soon'.)

#1: Thanks Cindy!! Gaming, Passion and Inspiration.

Dear reader,

As of now I officially have my very own Live Space. "Why FLY?" you may ask and ask that you may. The answers: inspiration and passion.

I was inspired by my XBOX Live Friend Cindy Lue Grue and her supercool Live Space on which she talks about her passions. As an experienced game industry player (can you spell Redmond, WA?) she writes about her own gaming experiences and her life in the gaming industry. Her Live Space is 100% most definitely worth checking out ->
http://itisdark.spaces.live.com.

The fact that Cindy writes about gaming and the industry really hit home as I have made the choise of stepping on the path that will eventually lead to me also becoming part of the gaming industry. Don't get me wrong this is not some 'oh dude games are so cool dude.. I'd love to test Tony Hawk games and get paid to play dude!' type of thing. This is a 'serious, long-term thinking, I'm going back to school for years, because I really feel I can make a big contribution to the industry and the player experience.. and it's the ultimate combination of my passion for gaming and marketing coming together' type of thing. Just so we're straight.

Cindy's blog and the inside scoop on the the industry she provides was my inspiration to make this Live Space. My personal passions are gaming / music / marketing. I could go on and on about all three. Gaming.. it's a lifestyle. Music.. I make it, write it, record it, mix it, it's my passion besides gaming and making a career for myself. Marketing's my third love. I can stare at a big, catchy, effective billboard for an hour. So it wouldn't exactly be fun to walk around Times Square with me lol. The art of shifting the perspective of an entire group of pre-defined and targeted people.. and to be able to convice them to acquire a certain product. To link a certain way of thinking, a way of living to a service or a product. That's just beautiful ain't it? That's what I'm gunning for. If all goes well.. one day me and my colleagues willl be planning on how to get your kids or grandkids to understand that they absolutely, absolutely must convince you and their parents to buy that new console.. or that new game.. and that it's really a matter of life. Really. Marketing rules homie.

So inspiration and passion are the foundation of this Live Space.

I hope everybody enjoys my posts about my passions (and my random comments on movies, sites etc.).
I'd love to get feedback and comments and if not that, at least I'll be writing about what I love.

Peace and Lots of Gamerpoints.

FLY LACOSTE

P.S. It goes without saying that The Big Man upstairs, my family and my better half (seriously.. she's a lot better) are huge passions of me too :o) <aaaah ain't that shhhweeeet!?!?>
